It is widely known that time spent in emergency rooms can be better
utilized by both the hospital and the patient. A timely solution is
the patient management pilot program that has the emergency visitor
answering critical pre-prepared bi-lingual questions while in queue.
An emergency room computer is specifically set up with PrimeCares
list of critical pre-prepared questions that identifies other potentially
life-threatening healthcare situations the patient or hospital may
not be aware of. Doctors at other institutions report seeing two more
patients an hour and that the PrimeCare Patient Management System
helps to save lives.
While waiting to see the Doctor, the patient-in-queue is directed
to fill out the questionnaire. Upon completion, a report is generated
containing the current problems, medications and allergies, all positive
and significant adverse subjective responses, vital signs, and a list
of the diagnostic considerations and differential diagnoses. This
report is then used by the emergency room staff and Doctor to treat
the patient. The interview modules are fully bi-lingual and can be
read and answered English or Spanish. A single keystroke changes the
questions and responses from/to English or Spanish.
The hospital then interfaces with the System documenting tests taken,
test results, assessment, treatments, prescriptions, follow-up instructions,
the physician's decision-making process and diagnoses, and procedures
performed. This report is available online only to the hospitals
physicians and nurses.
